What Luke Schenn said about illness, whether he'll play Predators-Canucks Game 6

The Nashville Predators were back on the ice Thursday as they prepare to host Game 6 on Friday at Bridgestone Arena, now down 3-2 in their NHL playoff series with the Vancouver Canucks.

Also back on the ice, after being scratched in Game 5 due to an illness, was defenseman Luke Schenn.

Schenn, who was replaced at the last minute on Tuesday by Tyson Barrie, says he feels much better after an illness that he says was one of the worst he's experienced in his career.

"I haven't been that sick in 10 years," Schenn said. "I physically couldn't even move."

At Game 5 warmups on Tuesday, Schenn took the ice initially, but says after taking a couple laps, he had to leave. At that point the team made the decision to put Tyson Barrie in the lineup instead.

When asked to provide specifics about the illness, Schenn decided to save us all from the gory details.

"It was everything ... just ... yeah, let's say everything," Schenn said. "I felt unbelievable at 3 p.m, but then before warmups, it hit. I tried to get an IV and it did nothing. Just bad timing."

Andrew Brunette updates Luke Schenn's status for Predators-Canucks Game 6

After Thursday's practice, Andrew Brunette updated Schenn's status as "day to day" saying they would need to see how he felt and then in the morning ahead of Game 6.

He also suggested that other players might be fighting something similar.

"It's kind of been going around a little bit," Brunette said.

While no other Predators' players have been scratched due to illness so far in the series, the Canucks dealt with something similar earlier in the series. Defenseman Tyler Myers missed Game 2 with the flu, with coach Rick Tocchet suggesting there was an illness going around the Canucks room. Myers returned to action in Game 3 and has been in the lineup since.

When asked if he thought he would be able to play in Game 6, Schenn was hopeful, though not able to commit to the idea yet.

"Yeah, hopefully. We will see."
