Is Lucy Gray Baird Alive at the End of 'BOSAS'? Lionsgate

If you've come to this place, you're probably wondering what the heck happened at the end of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Don't fret, we are here to help! The movie is a three-hour origin story for Coriolanus Snow, played here by Tom Blyth and played in the original movies by Donald Sutherland. Basically, this installment tried to explain how he got so dang bad. Enter: Lucy Gray Baird, the tribute from District 12 Coriolanus was in charge of mentoring, and the movie followed their complicated relationship as they kinda, sorta fell in love and plotted their escape from the whole situation.

But just as it seems like the two might have gotten the heck out of the districts and escaped to a new life, things went south. Here's what happened. (Spoilers ahead, obviously. If you haven't seen the movie yet, what are you doing here!?)

Why did Lucy Gray Baird and Coriolanus fall out?

While they were walking away from District 12 making their escape, Coriolanus made a comment about having killed three people. Lucy Gray quickly did the math and realized that she had only known about two of them, and that Coriolanus had been lying to her, sowing doubt in her mind about him and their plan.

When they got to the shack at the lake to wait out the rain, Coriolanus discovered the gun he had used to kill Mayfair. He realized that he could get rid of the evidence against him and go back to his own life. And he also realized that Lucy Gray was onto him. She went out in the woods to pick some katniss, and when she didn't immediately come back, he got even more suspicious.

So, is Lucy Gray Baird alive?

As far as we know, yes. When Coryo went out into the woods, he tried to shoot her multiple times, but because he didn't actually see her and was just firing without a target, he never made contact. I personally think that he didn't actually want to kill her, he was more so reacting to the fact that she had abandoned him, but either way, people shouldn't just fire guns around into the air!

The movie ends without the viewer ever seeing Lucy Gray again. And she is not a character in the original "Hunger Games" book, so she is never mentioned in the events that come after this prequel story.

So Coriolanus is bad because a girl turned him down?

Yes. Hope that helps!
