Lucky numbers make over 9,000 lottery tickets winners in NC. What was the combination?

A set of numbers proved to be a lucky combination — and now comes a $3.6 million payout for North Carolina lottery players.

Thousands of tickets scored prizes after lottery players tried their luck with the numbers 2-2-2. Those same numbers were drawn in the Pick 3 game on Wednesday, Oct. 4, according to the N.C. Education Lottery.

Pick 3 players can chose their own numbers or have the lottery select a combination for them. The odds of winning a prize with any set of picks is 1 in 1,000, officials said.

In all, the drawing resulted in “9,231 winning tickets totaling $3,636,157 in cash prizes.” That amount is similar to payouts from past drawings that ended with three-of-a-kind results, according to information the lottery shared with McClatchy News via email and on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Lottery winners who bought 50-cent tickets for the drawing scored $250 prizes. And any player who paid $1 is in for a $500 windfall, according to the game’s rules.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
