Who should be the Lubbock A-J high school athlete of the week?

Athletes from multiple sports are among the finalists for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal's Athlete of the Week.

The A-J accepts nominations each week until noon Sunday. Online voting begins at 4 a.m. Monday at lubbockonline.com. The poll runs through 5 p.m. Thursday, with the winner announced Friday.

HOW TO NOMINATE

► Coaching staffs can nominate a player for next week's award by emailing sports@lubbockonline.com by Sunday morning.

► Include nomination with grade level and pertinent stats/info from this week's games/results.

Here are this week's nominees.

Female athletes

Vida Mora, Jr., Muleshoe — Won the 200 and 400 meters, in addition to running on the winning 1,600 relay at the Shallowater Invitational track meet.

Reagan Roberts, Sr., Frenship — Broke the school record set in 1982 with a first-place discus throw of 138 feet, 6 inches at the Lubbock ISD Invitational.

Makenzie Robinson, Jr., Shallowater — Teamed with fellow nominee Caleb Cunningham to go 4-0 and win mixed doubles at the Amarillo ISD tennis tournament.

Male athletes

Caleb Cunningham, So., Shallowater — Teamed with fellow nominee Makenzie Robinson to go 4-0 and win mixed doubles at the Amarillo ISD tennis tournament.

Logan Mennel, Sr., Idalou — Won the long jump, 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles, in addition to running on the first-place 800 relay and finishing second in the high jump at the Shallowater Invitational track meet.

Brogan Stone, Jr., Tahoka — Earned the win over Ropes after allowing three hits and one earned run with five strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.
