Candlelight services and more: Here's where to worship on Christmas Eve in Lubbock

Christmas is right around the corner! As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, check out these Advent offerings and regular weekly events from Lubbock-area churches.

Christmas services

• Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2221 Ave. W.: Sunday, Dec. 24 at 5 p.m., Christmas Eve service; Monday, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m., Christmas Day service will include the Lord’s Supper. Please see our Communion statement on the home page of https://rlcms.org.

• Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 17th Street and Slide Road, will be hosting two Christmas Eve services. The morning Advent Worship will be at 10 a.m. and the evening Carols and Candlelight Service will be at 6 p.m., followed by a time of fellowship with hot cider and cookies. All are welcome to attend.

• First Christian Church: 2323 Broadway, (806) 763-1995: Christmas Eve service times: Sunday School at 10 a.m., one morning service only at 11 a.m. Afternoon/evening: Christmas Eve candlelight services at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Childcare is available at the 4 p.m. service.

• First Presbyterian Church, 130th Street and Memphis Avenue: Christmas Eve Service at 5:30 p.m. with communion and a reception to follow in addition to the regular Sunday service at 10:30 a.m., Bible study at 9:30 a.m. Pianist Spencer Hartman will perform a Christmas recital at 5 p.m. prior to the Christmas Eve service.

• St. Paul’s on the Plains Episcopal Church, 1510 Ave. X Lubbock: Christmas Eve service, Dec. 24, 4:30 p.m. Informal Family Service. Simple, laid back, come-as-you-are, kid-friendly service, with a simplified liturgy. 6:30 p.m., Early Christmas Eve "Vigil". Full Christmas Eve service with Carols and Communion. This service will begin with 15 minutes of Christmas music at 6:30 p.m., with the processional hymn and service proper beginning at 6:45. Streamed live on Facebook page. A nursery will be available for the 6:30 p.m. Christmas Eve "Vigil" Service ONLY. 10:30 p.m., Late Christmas Eve "Midnight" Service. Classic Christmas Eve service with Carols, Communion, and incense. Service will end around Midnight. New Year's Eve, Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, normal service times of 8 and 10:30 a.m. with music at the 10:30 a.m. service.

• Wolfforth Methodist Church, 1010 Donald Preston Drive, Wolfforth. Christmas Eve services: 10 a.m., combined Sunday morning service; 5 and 7 p.m., Christmas Eve candlelight services. Childcare for kids 2 and younger will be available at the 5 p.m. service.

Saturday
