Lubbock Christian University, City, Chamber announce LCU Elevate initiative

In a move toward fostering educational advancement and professional growth, the City of Lubbock and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce have inked an agreement with Lubbock Christian University.

Under this partnership, employees of the City and Chamber-affiliated businesses now have access to a tuition discount through the new LCU Elevate initiative.

This collaboration not only signifies a commitment to employee development but also underscores Lubbock's dedication to nurturing a highly skilled workforce. Through the LCU Elevate initiative, individuals aspiring to complete a bachelor's degree are empowered with affordability and accessibility, helping them fulfill their academic and career aspirations with strong support.

LCU’s degree completion programs are designed for working adults. The Bachelor of Science in Managerial Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in University Studies are open for registration. Both degrees are offered completely online in 8- and 16-week courses for adults who are 25 years of age or older and who have completed 45 college credits.

"A well-educated workforce benefits businesses and the local community," said Tracy Mack, Dean of the LCU School of Business, shared. "More importantly, employees benefit from increased education and the salary that accompanies a college degree.”

Jeremy Saldana Martinez, Organizational Development Manager for the City of Lubbock, said the city was pleased to announced the new collaboration with LCU.

"This partnership aims to facilitate the completion of undergraduate degrees," he said. "Through the Education Reimbursement Program, the City's employees can now pursue their educational objectives, adding an extra dimension to their academic pursuits. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to our employees, and we are confident that this collaboration will enhance their professional development and contribute to their overall success in the City.”

The flexibility of the program allows the working adult to invest in themselves and in their futures with minimal interruption, as the classes are offered asynchronously and offer flexibility for the busy schedules of working adults with families.

“The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer LCU’S Elevate degree completion program as a new member benefit,” said Beth Lawson, 2024 Chair of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “We know that an educated workforce helps to deepen skillsets and broadens opportunities for individuals and for the businesses who employ them. LCU President, Dr. Scott McDowell, said, “The personal touch that is a hallmark of Lubbock Christian University is the critical component for the busy, working adult who enrolls in this program. Our faculty will walk with them as they complete their degrees.”
