LSU softball to host NCAA regional as overall No. 9 seed in NCAA Tournament

For the 18th consecutive time, LSU softball is in the NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers clinched the ninth overall seed and will host a regional as the top seed in Baton Rouge. They will open against Jackson State on Friday, with Southern Illinois and California playing on Friday as well.

The Baton Rouge Regional is paired with the Stanford Regional, hosted by 8-seed Stanford, for the Super Regionals. Along with the host Cardinal, Mississippi State, Cal State-Fullerton, and Iona will also play.

LSU (40-15) enters the NCAA Tournament following a trip to the SEC Tournament semifinals. Although the Tigers lost to Missouri, it still represented the deepest SEC Tournament run for the program in seven years. This season is the 25th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. LSU is looking for its first trip to the Women's College World Series since 2017 and its seventh overall.
