Love ‘Bridesmaids’? Don’t Miss Kristen Wiig’s New Movie ‘Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar’

There are certain movies that never get old—like Bridesmaids, which hasn’t had any worthy competition…until now.

Introducing Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, which is set to premiere in a few short weeks. Not only is it written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, but it also stars the iconic duo as the titular characters.

So, what is Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar about? And when is it available for streaming? Keep reading for details.

1. What is 'Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar' about?

The movie is practically a follow-up film to Bridesmaids, since it’s written by Wiig and Mumolo. Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar tells the story of two best friends, Barb (Mumolo) and Star (Wiig), who embark on a wild road trip. The problem? This is the first time they’re leaving their small Midwestern town, and they’re in no way prepared for what’s to come.

According to Nathan Kahane (president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group), “Barb and Star are true cultural icons in the making, and as they embark on this hilarious adventure, we are more than thrilled to partner with Kristen, Annie and Gloria Sanchez on what we know is going to be a great ride.”

2. When does it premiere?

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar will be available on all digital rental services beginning February 12. (It was originally scheduled to premiere in July 2021, but the date was moved up by Lionsgate.)

3. Is there a trailer?

Of course. However, it’s not your average teaser, since it features Wiig and Mumolo imagining the upcoming film.

“Barb, what if we had a movie?” Wiig asks. “Gosh, I can almost see our trailer now.”

Cut to a montage of scenes featuring musical numbers, beach parties and a shirtless Jamie Dornan. Looks right up our alley.

4. Who's in it?

In addition to Wiig, Mumolo and Dornan, Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar also stars Damon Wayans, Jr., Fortune Feimster, Rose Abdoo, Vanessa Bayer, Phyllis Smith and Wendi McLendon-Covey.
