Louisville's Hayden Nigro, Malvern's J'Allen Barrino finalists for Ohio Mr. Basketball

Louisville's Hayden Nigro and Malvern's J'Allen Barrino are among the nine finalists for the 2024 Ohio Mr. Basketball award.

Nigro became Louisville's all-time leading scorer with 1,434 points this season. The 6-foot-4 wing averaged 20.9 points on 51.3% shooting from the field, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Leopards, who finished 23.3. He was named the Northeast Inland District Player of the Year and the District 4 Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year.

Barrino was named the Division III East District and Inter-Valley Conference North Division Player of the Year after he led Malvern to a 22-0 regular season The 6-2 senior guard averaged 18.6 points while taking only 11 shots a game. He shot 74% from the foul line and also averaged 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 5.2 steals a game. He has scored over 1,000 career points and owns Hornets records for steals in a season and a career.

The other seven finalists are Shelby's Alex Bruskotter, Garfield Heights' Marcus Johnson, Westerville South's Kruz McClure, Cleveland Heights Lutheran East's Jesse McCulloch, Cincinnati Winton Woods' Tyler McKinley, Camden Preble Shawnee's Mason Shrout and Ottawa-Glandorf's Colin White.

The winner will be selected in a vote by members of the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 20.
