Louisiana State Police: Marksville man killed after being hit by car

A Marksville man died Thursday night while walking on La. Highway 1 in Avoyelles Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Ricky Augustine, 45, died at the scene near Beauregard Landry Road in Marksville around 10 p.m., reads a news release. He had been hit by the driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox.

The initial investigation found Augustine was walking in the road when the southbound Equinox hit him, it reads.

The crash remains under investigation. It's the 20th fatal crash in the 10-parish Troop E region and the 22nd fatality.
