Lorry driver attacked man with ratchet over filming
A lorry driver armed with a ratchet attacked a man who was filming how HGVs were parked at an industrial estate.
Tom Adams caused the victim deep lacerations after striking him twice with the weapon in Maxwell Road, Peterborough, in April last year.
The victim claimed he was not filming Adams specifically, but was documenting the "dangerous" way lorries were parking in the road, police said.
The 51-year-old, of Creech St Michael near Taunton, Somerset, was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
The defendant was arrested immediately after the incident and the victim was taken to hospital, police said.
Speaking after the sentencing at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday, Det Con Thomas Adams said: “Adams’s level of aggression and violence towards the victim was horrendous and completely uncalled for."
