Lord of the Rings game Tales of the Shire releases trailer
Lord of the Rings game Tales of the Shire has unveiled a trailer ahead of its release this year.
The new game, which will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, is a sim set in the cosy confines of the Shire.
In the trailer, we get a taste of the iconic Lord of the Rings setting, alongside a showcase of activities available to players, such as foraging friendships, decorating homes, cooking, gardening and exploring the village of Bywater.

"There are many tales of Middle-earth," Gandalf's wise voice narrates. "Tales of courage and brave deeds in dark times. But that is not our story, for this is one of new beginnings.... These are our tales of the Shire. Hobbits really are amazing creatures."
The game's Steam synopsis reads: "Live the cosy life of a Hobbit in the wonderfully serene landscape of the Shire. Discover, decorate, and share in this idyllic corner of Middle-earth. Join friendly Hobbits and familiar faces awaiting your arrival."
Tales of the Shire comes from Wētā Workshop, known for their work on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy of movies.

The game isn’t the only Lord of the Rings project set for release this year, with Prime Video series The Rings of Power set to return for its second season later in 2024 too.
The release window was confirmed last month, and it has also been reported that creators Patrick McKay and JD Payne are putting ideas together for the show's third season.
This year will also see the release of animated movie The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, due in December.
The film is set 200 years before the events of The Two Towers and tells the story of the legendary King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand.
Tales of the Shire will be released later this year.
