Easter falls on Sunday, Mar. 31 this year, but celebrations in the Athens area will be enough to keep friends and families busy for more than a week before that. From egg hunts to religious services and even photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, the Classic City has the holiday covered.
Here's a list of activities scheduled for Easter 2024.

Egg Hunts
Attica Baptist Church (4352 Lebanon Church Rd.): Friday, Mar. 29 at 7 p.m.. After the Good Friday service, there will be an Easter egg hunt for children ages 1 to 12 years old.
Crossroads Community Church (550 Harve Mathis Rd.): Saturday, Mar. 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Event includes an Easter egg hunt for children ages "babies to 5th grade," petting zoo, inflatables and a food truck. To register, visit forms.gle/juAqky7JSMNQPcfV9.
Edwards Chapel Baptist Church (105 Timothy Pl.): Saturday, Mar. 23 at 6 p.m.. The 3rd annual "Glow in the Dark Easter" event is free and open to all ages. In addition to an egg hunt that features more than 3,000 eggs, this event includes a bouncy house, animals to pet, food and singing.
Forest Heights Baptist Church (1155 Oglethorpe Ave.): Saturday, Mar. 30 at 11 a.m.. "Eggstravaganza" egg hunt is for children of 6th grade age or below. To register, visit fhbcathens.org/easter.
Oconee Heights Baptist Church (4180 Jefferson Rd.): Saturday, Mar. 30 at 10 a.m.. Free community event where children ages "babies to 6th grade" can hunt for candy-filled Easter eggs. To register, visit oconeeheights.com.
Photo Ops
Lexington Vintage (1743 Lexington Rd.): Friday, Mar. 22 and Saturday, Mar. 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This free event is open to all ages and invites guests to "hop on in" for a photo with the Easter Bunny.
Macaroni KID Athens (2025 Baxter St.): Friday, Mar. 22 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. No purchase or registration is required for this event that is presented in partnership with the Athens-Clarke County Library. No photographers will be present, so guests will need to bring their own cameras or phones to take pictures.
Religious Services
Beech Haven Church (2390 W Broad St.): Sunday, Mar 31. Easter services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m and 11 a.m..
New Covenant Athens (1425 Newton Bridge Rd.): Three-day event includes a Good Friday production at 7 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 29, an Easter egg hunt at 5 p.m. and encore of the Good Friday production at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 30, and services at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 31.
St. Thomas Anglican Church (130 Foundry St.): Easter services will be held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
