Want to dine at California’s most beautiful restaurant? You’ll need to head to wine country, according to OpenTable.

The online restaurant reservation company teamed up with People magazine to pick the 50 most beautiful restaurants in America for the publication’s 50th anniversary.

To represent California, the team chose The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil in the Napa Valley.

Is Napa Valley restaurant the most beautiful in California?

Founded in 1981, The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil was the Napa area’s first fine-dining establishment, according to the restaurant’s website.

The restaurant at 180 Rutherford Hill Road in Rutherford has earned 16 consecutive Michelin Star awards, OpenTable said, providing “a memorable feast for the eyes and the senses.”

Helmed by chef Robert Curry, the eatery is known for its Mediterranean-style menu and sweeping vistas.

Popular dishes include potato gnocchi, northern halibut and Delta asparagus soup with blue crab creme fraiche, according to OpenTable.

A three-course dining experience at The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil ranges in price from $85 to $195, depending on the time of day you go.

“Nestled within a sun-lit hillside overlooking lush vineyards and distant mountains, the spectacular vista views from the intimate dining room or the expansive outdoor terrace serve as an idyllic backdrop for one of wine country’s most renown fine dining experiences,” OpenTable said.

The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil is open for lunch from 11:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, and brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Dinner is served from 5:30 to 9:15 p.m. daily.

How were restaurants selected?

The list of most beautiful restaurants was selected by a group of OpenTable and People contributors, as well as designers.
