Jeremy Ruckert’s dream came true when the New York Jets selected him with the 101st pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Lindenhurst, N.Y. native grew up rooting for the Jets, and now the Ohio State tight end gets to stay close to home. Friday night was a joyous occasion in the Ruckert household.

His girlfriend, Robyn Haines, provided proof by posting footage of their draft party on TikTok. As Matt O’Leary of OddsChecker joked, her use of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” particularly added to the video’s Long Island vibe.

NFL’s Instagram account also shared a video Haines captured from the moment New York picked Ruckert. Everyone broke into a “J-E-T-S” chant before his jubilant father let out a celebratory cry.

Ruckert, who was luckily wearing a green suit on the night Gang Green picked him, shared a photo of him donning a Jets uniform well before this upcoming rookie season.

The 6’5″, 252-pound tight end also compiled 615 receiving yards over four seasons with the Buckeyes, but he’s nevertheless a tantalizing prospect who could flourish with more pass-catching opportunities.

Ruckert will look to make his mark in a young offense helmed by second-year quarterback Zach Wilson while playing alongside Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson, who went with the 10th overall pick.

Ruckert’s passion for the Jets could quickly make him a fan favorite in the tri-state area.
