Look: Vanessa Bryant Pays Tribute To Gianna On Her Birthday
Today is an emotional day for Vanessa Bryant. It would have been her daughter Gianna’s 16th birthday.
Gianna and her father Kobe Bryant were two of the nine people tragically killed in a helicopter crash in January 2020. Now, more than two years later, Vanessa posted a heartfelt and heartbreaking tribute to Gigi on her birthday.
The video, shared on Instagram, features black-and-white sketch images of Gianna with music playing in the background. A woman–presumably Vanessa–narrates a letter to the young girl, which concludes with “Love you always, basketball.”
“Love you always! Happy Birthday, Gianna. 😘❤️🥰 #Mambacita #2 ❤️❤️,” Vanessa wrote as the caption.
Nike also took out a full-page ad for the letter.

That was tough to watch, but beautiful and poignant at the same time.
Our hearts go out to Vanessa and the Bryant family on what has to be a very difficult day.
