Look: Pitcher Throws Awful Pitch During Royals-Athletics Game

Royals pitcher Jake Brentz throws wild pitch.

On Tuesday night, Kansas City Royals left-hander Jake Brentz had one of the worst throws MLB fans have witnessed this season.

During the top of the sixth inning against the Oakland Athletics, Brentz basically spiked the baseball into the mound. It looked as if he lost his footing on the mound, which would explain why that pitch didn’t go very far.

Baseball fans couldn’t believe what they witnessed, especially those in attendance at Kauffman Stadium. To be fair, it’s not very often that you see a pitcher spike a baseball.

Although this brutal pitch from Brentz went viral on social media, the left-hander for the Royals wasn’t asked about it after last night’s win.

Here’s the video of Brentz’s awful pitch from Tuesday night:

Hopefully, this is the first and last time that Brentz does a Rob Gronkowski impression while he’s pitching for Kansas City.

Despite this blunder on Tuesday night, Brentz had a very strong performance against the Athletics. Though he only pitched for one inning, Brentz had two strikeouts and didn’t give up a single hit.

Brentz, 27, has been really steady this entire season for the Royals. In 66 games, he has a 5-2 record with a 3.12 ERA and 72 strikeouts.
