A look at ODOT projects in Ross and Pike Counties

CHILLICOTHE — With summer approaching the Ohio Department of Transportation's 2024 construction season is investing $2.8 billion into 950 road and bridge improvement projects across the state.

“Investing in efficient infrastructure is an investment in quality of life,” said Governor Mike DeWine. “Once complete, these projects will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve roadway safety.”

District Nine of ODOT covers Adams, Brown, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, and Scioto counties. The coverage includes over 3,700 lane miles, 1,243 bridges and a total of 93 projects.

Here is a look at some of those ODOT projects that will take place in Ross and Pike counties.

Ross County

Ohio 138 Culvert Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing culvert on Ohio 138 between Austin Road and County Road 550.

  • Start Date: July 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

US Route 23 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on U.S. 23 between George Hollow Road and Rozelle Creek Road.

  • Start Date: September 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: December 2024

US Route 23 Lighting Upgrade

  • The project will upgrade the lighting at two interchanges along U.S. 23, the first at the interchange with U.S. 35, and the second at the interchange with Ohio 159.

  • Start Date: June 2023

  • Estimated Completion Date: February 2024

US Route 23 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on U.S. 23 from the Pickaway County line to Ohio 207.

  • Start Date: May 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: August 2024

US Route 23 Intersection Improvement

  • The project will install a turbo lane at the intersection of Trego Creek Road and U.S. 23.

  • Start Date: April 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

Ross County Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on various sections of Ohio 772, Ohio 372, Ohio 28 and Ohio 207.

  • Start Date: August 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: November 2024

US Route 35 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on U.S. 35 from the Fayette County line to Ohio 138.

  • Start Date: April 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: July 2024

US Route 50 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on U.S. 50 between Veterans Parkway and South Watt Street.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: September 2024

County Road 166 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on CR 166 between Skiver Road and Mt. Zion Road.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 184 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on CR 184 between U.S. 23 and Mt. Tabor Road.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 223 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on CR 223 between Lick Run Road and Graves Road.

  • Start Date: July 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 92 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on CR 92 between McCalla Road and Montgomery Lane.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

Tar Hollow State Park Culvert Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing culvert on Tar Hollow Road inside the State Park.

  • Start Date: November 2023

  • Estimated Completion Date: April 2024

Township Road 183 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on TR 183 between Lunbeck Road and Bethel Road.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

Pike County

County Road 50 Landslide Repair

  • The project will remediate a landslide on CR 50 between Mutton Run Road and Hay Hollow Road.

  • Start Date: February 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: June 2024

Ohio 104 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on Ohio 104 between Long Fork Road and Ohio 32.

  • Start Date: April 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: September 2024

Ohio 220 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on Ohio 220 between U.S. 23 and Zahns Corner Road.

  • Start Date: April 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: July 2024

US 23 Resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on U.S. 23 between Alma Omega Road and Salisbury Road.

  • Start Date: April 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: August 2024

State Route 32 resurfacing

  • The project will replace the existing surface on various sections of Ohio 32 in Pike County.

  • Start Date: May 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: August 2024

Ohio 335 Landslide Repair

  • The project will remediate a landslide on Ohio 335 between Schilder Lane and Main Street.

  • Start Date: June 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: August 2024

Ohio 772 Culvert Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing culvert on Ohio 772 between Ohio 124 and McKinney Road.

  • Start Date: May 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: August 2024

Ohio 772 Landslide Repair

  • The project will remediate a landslide on Ohio 772 between Ohio 124 and McKinney Road.

  • Start Date: March 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 57 Culvert Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing culvert on CR 57 between Meadow Run Road and Bumgardner Road.

  • Start Date: August 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 36 and Ohio 220 Intersection Improvement

  • The project will improve the intersection of Ohio 220 and CR 36.

  • Start Date: May 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: October 2024

County Road 8 Bridge Replacement

  • The project will replace the existing bridge on CR 8 between Ohio 41 and Beech Flats Road.

  • Start Date: July 2024

  • Estimated Completion Date: September 2024

Ross County is expected to see a total investment of $18.1 million and Pike County is expected to see a total investment of $15.7 million. With these projects, traffic will see various delays such as road closures and lane restrictions.
