Miguel Cabrera reached a huge milestone this Saturday afternoon, recording his 3,000th career hit in the MLB.

During the bottom of the first inning between the Rockies and Tigers, Cabrera hit an opposite-field single to collect his 3,000th career hit. The crowd at Comerica Park erupted once they saw the ball get through the infield.

Cabrera, 39, is one of the best hitters of his generation. He’s a two-time MVP, seven-time Silver Slugger and 2003 World Series champion. In 2012, he became the first player to win the batting Triple Crown since 1967.

Even though he’s nearing the end of his career, Cabrera is having a strong start to the 2022 season. He entered this afternoon’s game with a .308 batting average.

Here’s the moment where Cabrera captured his 3,000th hit:

With that hit, Cabrera has joined Hank Aaron and Willie Mays as the only players with a career batting average of at least .300, 500 homers and 3,000 hits. That’s an elite group to be a part of.

There’s no doubt Miguel Cabrera will be a Hall of Famer when he decides to retire.
