The Arizona Cardinals made a splash on Wednesday, signing A.J. Green to a one-year contract. He’ll join a receiving corps that is led by All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins.

Green’s contract with the Cardinals is worth up to $8.5 million. It’s a nice payday for the seven-time Pro Bowler at this stage in his career.

Although his best days are behind him, Green is still a reliable option in the passing game. This past season, he had 47 receptions for 523 yards and two touchdowns.

Shortly after the news broke that Arizona was adding Green to its roster for the 2021 season, J.J. Watt went on Twitter to share his thoughts on the move. It’s fair to say he’s excited about becoming teammates with Green.

Check out Watt’s reaction to the Cardinals’ latest signing:

Watt signed a two-year, $31 million deal with the Cardinals prior to the start of free agency.

Ironically enough, Green and Watt are both members of the 2011 draft class. Green was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 4 overall pick, meanwhile Watt was taken by the Houston Texans with the No. 11 overall pick.

Green and Watt aren’t considered elite players anymore, but they should provide an impact on and off the field for the Cardinals in 2021.
