Unfortunately, Dick Vitale was not able to call any college basketball games this season, but he did provide his Final Four prediction on Sunday night.

Toward the end of the official Selection Show on CBS, the studio team shouted out Vitale, who sat out this year while undergoing cancer treatments. He has been on voice rest for the last month after undergoing surgery to treat pre-cancerous Dysplasia on his vocal cords.

Vitale thanked the CBS crew for its kind gesture on Twitter.

Thanks Jimmy for sharing as @cbsgreggumbel @ClarkKelloggCBS & @SethDavisHoops r terrific ppl. So so nice of them as I have great RESPECT for them . Feel trapped not being able to speak for 2 months .Have a major exam in Boston on vocal cords for good news.

Attached to his tweet of gratitude was a photo of Vitale’s Final Four, which features Gonzaga, Kentucky, Tennessee and Iowa. He has Kentucky over Iowa to win the national title.

It shouldn’t be too surprising that Vitale has Tennessee and Iowa in his Final Four. After all, he expressed his feelings that both teams were underseeded by the selection committee shortly after the bracket was unveiled tonight.

Overall, it’s great to see Dickie V sharing his thoughts on college hoops, and we hope he can return to the announcing booth next year as planned.
