The Cleveland Browns made the biggest move of the NFL offseason on Friday night, sending three first-round picks, a 2023 third-rounder and a 2024 fourth-rounder to the Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson.

Although the Browns gave up a ton of draft capital for Watson, there’s a chance he’ll miss a significant period of time next season due to a suspension.

Luckily for Watson, the Browns have altered his contract so he doesn’t lose as much money per game missed.

“Deshaun Watson gets a $45 million signing bonus,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said. “His base salary this season is $1 million, so any suspension – if there is one – would cost him juts $55,555 per game lost.”

The Browns have not yet commented on the addition of Watson. The Texans, meanwhile, already released a statement on this blockbuster trade.

“Earlier today, we agreed to trade Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns,” Texans general manager Nick Caserio said. “I felt it was the right move for our organization as we head into the new league year focused on building our roster for the 2022 season. Our priority right now is adding talented players to the foundation we have already put in place over the last 15 months and this trade supports that plan.”

Only time will tell which team is the winner of this blockbuster trade.
