Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has officially commented on his six-game suspension for performance-enhancing substances.

On Twitter tonight, Hopkins confirmed the report that he’s dropping his appeal, telling followers he’ll “see you in Week 7.” The five-time Pro Bowler went on to say he has never tested positive for any illicit substances before in his career.

Hopkins also echoed what his brand manager said earlier–that his November test sample was flagged and that he is adamant he did not willingly ingest anything illegal.

“I am very mindful of what I put in my body and have always taken a holistic approach, so I am working with my team to investigate how this could’ve happened,” Hopkins said. “But even as careful as I have been, clearly I wasn’t careful enough. For that, I apologize to Cardinals fans, my teammates and the entire Cardinals organization. I never want to let my team down.”

It will be interesting to see what further info gets reported–or released to the public by Hopkins and his team–about what triggered the positive test result.

Now out for six games in 2022, Hopkins missed seven games last year due to injury, finishing the season with career-lows in receptions (42) and receiving yards (572). He did catch eight touchdown passes in 10 appearances.
