Chris Webber clearly isn’t a big fan of Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis.

During an appearance on the Colin Cowherd Podcast this week, Webber spoke at length about Davis. His comments will surprise you.

Webber doesn’t feel like you can build a team around AD and be successful doing so. In other words, he needs to be the “Robin” to a team’s “Batman” and not vice versa.

“I never felt that way with AD, that he just needed help,” Webber told Colin Cowherd. “I felt that he could be that missing piece for someone else. I don’t know what he’s proven at. He’s a wonderful talent and he hit some big shots for LeBron. I get that. But we’re talking about him being the alpha and I don’t know when that’s worked.

“I’m not as high on him, injury or not.”

A few years ago in a hypothetical re-drafting of all NBA players, Anthony Davis might have been a top-five pick. However, his inability to stay on the court due to health has become a major issue.

It’s also a tall task to build a team around a forward in today’s NBA, unless he’s capable of being an elite passer. Davis doesn’t fit the criteria.

The Lakers would love to build their future around AD. He’s a bonafide superstar. But if Webber were in charge, he’d clearly move off the All-Star big man.
