Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is heading back to his old Oklahoma stomping grounds this weekend. And he has a message for Sooner Nation.

Taking to Twitter, Mayfield recorded a video of himself at the Oklahoma football facility. He said he’s looking forward to meeting the former players ahead of Saturday’s spring game.

“Sooner Nation, what’s up? Baker Mayfield here. I’m so excited to see all of you this weekend. It’s gonna be a great weekend with a ton of former players. Let’s have a great time. Let’s go!” Mayfield said.

Oklahoma will be dedicating a statue to Mayfield at halftime of the game. He is expected to address the crowd during the ceremony as well.

Baker Mayfield joined Oklahoma in 2014 after transferring from Texas Tech. In 2015, he became the Sooners’ starter and quickly became one of the most prolific passers in school history.

Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy in 2017 and finished in the top four of Heisman voting in 2015 and 2016. He left Oklahoma as their No. 2 all-time leading passer but still holds the Oklahoma records for passing yards and passing touchdowns in a single game.

Mayfield still holds the Oklahoma record for most touchdowns responsible for with 137. He also holds the top three marks for total offense in a single game.

Suffice it to say, a statue is deserved, and Baker Mayfield is looking forward to the honor.
