Longtime Rockford funeral home closes

Gasparini Oliveri Funeral Home, a part of the Rockford business community since 1932, has closed and transferred the business at 707 Marchesano Dr. to Olson Funeral & Cremation Services.

The family-owned funeral homes have announced the retirement of Sam Oliveri, principal owner of Gasparini Oliveri Funeral Home. According to a news release, Olson Funeral & Cremation Services in Rockford will assume responsibility for Gasparini Oliveri's pre-planned and funded contracts.

"It's a weighty decision for families to choose a funeral home, and we honor that trust by ensuring a seamless transition," Oliveri said in the release. "Our confidence in Olson's stems from their unwavering commitment to compassionate care, aligning seamlessly with the expectations of the families we've been privileged to serve."

The transition marks the fifth time Olson Funeral & Cremation Services has assumed responsibility for another funeral home.

Olson Funeral and Cremation Services has been in business for over 135 years. It operates at several locations in the Rockford area as well as Sycamore, Kirkland and Genoa.
