Long-running popular Kentucky TV show is getting a new host next year
Kentucky Educational Television announced on Tuesday that a new host is coming for one of its long-running and most popular shows, “Kentucky Life.”
Chip Polston, who has been a frequent on-air volunteer during pledge drives for the Kentucky public television network, will join the show when it kicks off its 28th season in January 2023.
Polston, who has served senior vice president with the Kentucky Lottery Corp., also was host of “Mixed Media,” a KET arts series produced in the early 2000s.
He’ll be replacing Doug Flynn, who left after seven years, and will be the show’s fourth host, following Byron Crawford and Dave Shuffett.
“We are delighted to have Chip joining KET as the new host of ‘Kentucky Life,’” said Shae Hopkins, KET’s executive director and CEO, in a news release. “Given Chip’s easy-going nature and knowing what a proud Kentuckian he is, I’m certain viewers will enjoy joining him on his travels throughout the Commonwealth and seeing all the wonderful stories he’ll be sharing.”
Polston is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville and is on the board of the Kentucky YMCA Youth Association. He also has served on the Louisville Sports Commission board.
“Kentucky Life” airs weekly on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. CT on KET and on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. CT on KET2. It’s also available for streaming at KET.org/KentuckyLife and the PBS Video app.
