Loki, the God of Mischief and Thor's adopted brother, has been wreaking havoc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for over a decade, and now, the breakout TV series that follows his adventures is about to release a second season.

The series, Loki, named after its titular character, takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, and it has already built up an army of fans after a blockbuster first season dropped in June of 2021.

The end of Loki's first season saw Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, and Sylvie, one of Loki's variants from a different timeline, facing a dilemma: Do they take over as rulers of the Time Variance Authority or let the multiverse run free? Sylvie ends up killing He Who Remains, the TVA's creator and ruler, which unleashes a multiverse that includes a lot of alternate timelines that the TVA cannot control or cut back. Loki tries to warn Mobius and the others about the threats this poses to their world, but is not successful.

Season 2, which was once again directed by Kate Herron and whose script is written by Michael Waldron, is about to drop and Loki fans are understandably stoked. A trailer for season 2 shows Loki time slipping (sliding from one timeline to the next involuntarily), while Mobius looks for answers.

But when can you start watching the next season and what’s next for the series? Here’s the deal.

Will there be a season 3?

There’s no word yet on whether season 3 will be a go. Executive producer Kevin Wright recently told Variety that the future of the series is “open-ended.”

"We certainly did not develop this season going, 'We have to tee up Season 3'—in the way that we did with Season 1, where there was a very specific, 'Hey, we're coming back,’” Wright said. “But I also think that where this show goes, there certainly can be many, many, many more stories told with Loki in the Loki world, and in other worlds connected to Loki, the character."
