Local ice cream staple Stensland Family Farms to close east-side location Sunday

Stensland Family Farms, a dairy and creamery based in Larchwood, Iowa, is closing its east-side retail store in Sioux Falls, with its last day Sunday.

On Monday, the local ice cream and dairy staple, stated they have been “shaking things up in 2024,” in a post on the business’s Facebook page.

Stensland’s reasoning for not renewing their five-year lease at 4712 East 41st Street came down to how it all began: family.

“The family has agreed it’s time to carve out more quality time with our own kin, which is pretty awesome," the post reads. "With that said, we’ll be focusing on our OG Ice Cream/Retail store at 41st & Kiwanis (near Olive Garden), beefing up our wholesale partners, online and fundraising sales."

The Stensland family will also continue to scoop their decadent frozen treats at Falls Overlook Cafe, as well as sell their ice cream, cheese, cheese curds, pizza, smoked meat snacks and freeze-dried treats in Sioux Falls retail stores and eateries.

From 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, single ice cream dips will be available for $2, along with 10% off other merchandise and products. Friday and Saturday, Stensland will be open during normal business hours from 1 to 9 p.m.
