LMC awards boys all-conference, Harbor Springs standout leads list with D3 all-state honor
There’s a certain level of play you can expect out of the Lake Michigan Conference each season on the boys basketball side of things.
That level is always high and a big reason for it is the talent that makes up the league year after year.
It was all recently highlighted with the release of the All-Lake Michigan boys basketball squads, while one athlete from the area was also recognized as second team all-state by the Associated Press panel of writers within the state.
Between Boyne City, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix and East Jordan, a total of seven players were named to the all-conference squad, with six others being named honorable mention.
On top of the All-LMC honors, Harbor Springs sophomore guard Braeden Flynn was also named to the Division 3 all-state second team on Tuesday.
Flynn finished the season wavering 22.1 points a game, to go with 6.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds. He also shot 80 percent from the free throw line and 36 percent from three.
He was also only a handful of points shy of 1000 for his career, just two years in.
It’s a second straight season of earning all-state honors for Flynn, after being recognized by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan last season as well.

For Charlevoix, Joe Gaffney and Hudson Vollmer earned All-LMC, with Gaffney earning a second straight as a sophomore and Vollmer closing his senior career with the honors.
Gaffney averaged 13.2 points, 2.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds a game, while shooting 79.1 precent on free throws. For Vollmer, the season closed averaging 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
East Jordan had junior Korbyn Russell recognized as All-LMC after a standout season of averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals a game.
Boyne City also had both senior Chas Stanek and junior Jaden Alger claim All-LMC honors. No season stats were available for the Ramblers.
