Lizzo Hits the 2024 Met Gala One Month After Announcing She's Quitting 'Negative Energy'

After performing at last year’s Met Gala in a mirrored Fendi overcoat, the “Juice” singer returned to the 2024 event

Lizzo made an encore at this year's Met Gala.

The Grammy winner, 36, attended the glamorous event on May 6 in a sculpted corset gown with cascading flower petals and a matching headpiece for her take on the "Garden of Time" theme. She completed the look with a botanical makeup moment made up of pink, fuschia and yellow polka dots, courtesy of makeup artist Alexx Mayo.

Following a surprise performance for event attendees at the Met Gala last year, where she shined in a mirrored paillette Fendi overcoat, silvery bodysuit by Yitty and similarly refractive, knee-high Piferi bokos, Lizzo returned to the event in 2024 after a bumpy year.

Her Met appearance came one month after the "Truth Hurts" singer shared a lengthy statement on Instagram about how she's "getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."

After signing off her message with a pointed, "I QUIT ✌🏾," Lizzo clarified her statement a few days later in a video.

"I want to make this video because I just need to clarify — when I say I quit, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention," she said, revealing that she has no intentions to quit "the joy of my life which is making music."

The post came nearly two months after she attempted to dismiss a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her by three of her former background dancers and was denied.

The ruling was in response to an August lawsuit filed by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who claim they were abused, harassed, discriminated against and faced numerous workplace violations while working for the singer and her Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc.

Lizzo's 2024 Met Gala appearance was not her first time hitting the star-studded red carpet. In addition to showing up on the 2023 red carpet in custom Chanel — before changing into her shimmering performance look — the singer made a splash in 2022 when she acccessorized with her flute and played a tune for those within earshot.

That year, she wore a hand-embroidered gold and black coat with a black, curve-hugging gown by Thom Browne.

Lizzo's first Met Gala appearance was in 2019, when the "About Damn Time" singer attended as a guest of Marc Jacobs for the "Camp: Notes on Fashion"-themed event. She wore an all-pink ensemble, including a waved, fuschia wig, a feathery cape and a pink dress with hot-pink bow accents.

The star seemed to not want to part with the monochromatic look, as she was spotted in the airport the next morning, rocking the feathery coat.
