Live updates: Tornado watch, severe thunderstorm alert issued in parts of Oklahoma

Meteorologists were tracking severe thunderstorms moving through parts of western central Oklahoma Sunday. The National Weather Service in Norman confirmed a severe storm that produced a tornado in Texas was moving at 45 mph northeast toward Sayre and Elk City in the afternoon.

Strong winds and hail were reported.

A low threat of tornadoes failed to produce significant damage Sunday across Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service in Norman reported that around 7:45 p.m. scattered storms were moving across western north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Hail up to ping pong size is possible along with damaging winds to 60 mph.
