Perry graduate and Iowa State national champion David Carr will try for title No. 2 Saturday evening at 165 pounds of the NCAA Division I National Championships.

It's time for seven Ohio athletes to climb as high on the podium with Iowa State Perry standout David Carr as Greater Akron/Canton's only finalist.

All seven have locked up All-America status at the NCAA Division I National Championships.

Here's what is happening on the final day.

Aaron Brooks joins teammate as a four-time national champion; Undefeated Penn State wrestlers closes out NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships with win at 197

Penn State now has two four-time national champions after No. 1 Aaron Brooks beat five-time All-American and No. 2 Trent Hidlay 5-0 in a battle of undefeateds.

Brooks scored a takedown with four seconds left in the first period and picked up an escape and penalty point.

The Nittany Lions finished with three champions and scored 172.5 points to set the Division I record for most points and margin of victory with (100). Cornell finished second with 72.5 points.

Brooks finished his career with only three collegiate loss.

9:59 p.m. Parker Keckesien wins national title in his second finals appearances, wins 184-pound crown at NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 1 Parker Keckesien (Northern Iowa) hit two takedowns in the first 68 seconds in an eventual 13-5 major decision win over No. 3 Dustin Plott (Oklahoma State).

Keckesien showed his dominance at 184 with another two takedowns.

In all five of his matches, the four-time All-American won by bonus points. He outscored his competition 74-17 in five matches.

9:43 p.m. Carter Starocci becomes sixth four-time national champion, first with Penn State, it came at 174 pounds of NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 9 Carter Starocci (Penn State) went into some rare air with a 2-0 win over No. 6 Rocco Welsh.

Starocci picked up a penalty point in the first period on a second stall call and escaped 22 seconds into the second to go up two.

He got called for stalling in the third, but put together an impressive gameplan to shut out Welsh.

9:28 p.m. Perry and Iowa State star David Carr holds on to win 165-pound title at NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 4 David Carr (Iowa State/Perry) didn't wait to make his presence known with a blast double takedown 24 seconds into the match against No. 2 Mesenbrink (Penn State) in a 9-8 win.

Carr escaped 20 seconds into the second period and fended off a takedown by Mesenbrink midway through. After his a second stall on Carr, the Ohio star took down Mesenbrink to take a 7-3 lead into the final period.

Another Stall and escape made it 7-5 Carr, but a takedown and escape made it 8-8. When riding time was added, Carr walked out with the win.

9:05 p.m. Levi Haines 157-pound title at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, second crown for Penn State

Nol. 1 Levin Haines waited for his chance against No. Jacori Teemer (Arizona State) and when he saw the opportunity he struck in a 5-0 win to complete his season undefeated.

After a scoreless first period, Haines picked up an escape point almost immediately to go up 1-0.

Knowing Haines was a hammer on top, Teemer chose neutral to start the third. It didn't matter as Haines got his takedown 24 seconds into the third period.

8:40 p.m. Caleb Henson rallies to win 149-pound title for at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

No. 6 Austin Gomez (Michigan) blasted scored a takedown 22 seconds in against No. 4 Caleb Henson (Virginia Tech), but all that did was wake the Hokies star up in a 15-7 major decision win.

Henson hit a takedown 43 seconds later and got two sets of nearfall points to push his lead out. Another takedown pushed his lead to nine after one.

Gomez got the better of Henson in the second period, but Henson enjoyed an eight-point advantage midway into the third and held it the rest of the way.

8:31 p.m. Jesse Mendez wins 141-pound title for at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

In a rematch of the Big Ten title and it ended the same with No. 1 Jesse Mendez (Ohio State) beating No. 2 Beau Bartlett 4-1.

It was the same score as two weeks ago and every bit as exciting for Mendez, who became the first national champion for the Buckeyes since 2018.

After a scoreless first period, Mendez picked up an escape point 9 seconds into the second and fended off a late takedown attempt.

Bartlett got his escape point 38 seconds into the third and looked like he was about to score a takedown late, but Mendez countered and got his own takedown with 2 seconds left to win.

8:13 p.m. Vito Arujau wins 133-pound title for at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

In the most entertaining of the three matches to date, now two-time national champion, World champion and No. 6 Vito Arujau (Cornell) beat four-time national runner-up and No. 1 Daton Fix (Oklahoma State) by a score of 5-3.

An accidental headbutt marred the scoreless first period where both took turns feeling each other out.

Arujau was hit with a locking hands technical violation to give fix a one-point lead 10 seconds into the second period. That caused Arujau to go optional on the restart to give the Oklahoma State senior a two-point lead.

Arujau earned an escape penalty point to tie it up at 120, 10 seconds later he got his takedown.

7:38 p.m. Richard Figueroa grabs 125-pound for Arizona State at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

And No. 8 Richard Figueroa (Arizona State) became the first Arizona State wrestler to be crowned champion with a 7-2 win over No. 3 Drake Ayala (Iowa).

After a scoreless first period, Ayala picked up an escape point almost off the jump in the second and scored a takedown at horn to go up four.

Ayala added another takedown in the third to push things to a more comfortable outcome.

7:18 p.m. Greg Kerkvliet wins 285-pound title for Penn State at NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships

The finals started at 285 with No. 1 Greg Kerkvliet (Penn State) and No. 10 Lucas Davison (Michigan) squaring off and as the weekend has gone so did the final.

With a Nittany Lion getting his hand raised.

Big Ten champion became national champion when Kerkvliet scored two takedowns in the first period to go up four after the first three minutes.

A takedown in the second period and another in the third extended it to a 13-4 major decision.

12:44 p.m. Lennox Wolak grabs sixth place at Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 2 Cade Devos (South Dakota State) showed his dominance against Lennox Wolak (Columbia/Dublin Coffman) at 174 pounds. DeVos scored a takedown 27 seconds, registered an escape in the second period and picked up a riding point to win 5-0.

12:31 p.m. Peyten Kellar wins battle of Ohio to take fifth at the NCAA Division I National Championships

No. 7 Kellar (Ohio University/Warren) and No. 12 Bryce Andonian (Virginia Tech/St. Edward) traded takedowns and reversals until a nearfall 3:23 in turned into a pin for Kellar at 3:23.

12:14 p.m. Ben Pasiuk finishes eighth at the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 3 Edmond Ruth (Illinois) turned up the heat against No. 18 Ben Pasiuk (Army/Carrollton) despite Pasiuk scoring the first takedown and taking a 3-1 lead into the first period. Ruth had four takedowns - three in the third period - to win 16-6.

12:07 p.m. Dylan Shawver finishes seventh at the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 4 Shawver (Rutgers/Elyria) finished his redshirt junior season on top against No. 3 Kai Orine. The Big Ten champions scored a takedown 61 seconds into the first period and got another one 15 seconds later on his way to a 10-5 win.

12:03 p.m. Tanner Jordan finishes eighth at the NCAA Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 23 Jordan (South Dakota State/St. Paris Graham) finished his senior campaign on the wrong side of a 4-0 loss to No. 5 Jore Volk (Wyoming). Volk scored a takedown with 68 seconds left and then picked up a riding point to win at 125 pounds.

11:39 a.m. Lennox Wolak will wrestle for fifth place at the Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 7 Wolack (Columbia/Dublin Coffman) went into the third period won one against No. 1 Mekhi Lewis (Virginia Tech) but was taken down midway through the third period at 174 pounds.

11:29 a.m. Bryce Andonian will wrestle for fifth place at the Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 12 Bryce Andonian (Virginia Tech/St. Edward) was in control of No. 3 Meyer Shapiro (Cornell) and was looking to turn him when Shapiro scored a defensive pin. Andonian will wrestle for fifth at 157 pounds.

11:17 a.m. Petyen Kellar will wrestle for fifth place at the Division I National Wrestling Championships

No. 7 Kellar (Ohio University/Warren) got caught in a nasty takedown at the 2:13 mark against No. 6 Daniel Dardenas (Stanford) and was pinned at 1:20. He'll wrestle for fifth at 157 later today.
