How the Dallas Cowboys beat the Chicago Bears 49-29 on Sunday at AT&T Stadium

The Dallas Cowboys crushed the visiting Chicago Bears 49-29 at AT&T Stadium on Sunday as Tony Pollard rushed for three touchdowns and 131 yards.

Dallas grabbed a big 28-7 early lead. The Bears pulled within 28-23 before the Cowboys pulled away in the third quarter.

The Cowboys (6-2) are now idle until Nov. 13 when they travel to the Green Bay Packers.

Here are notes, the scoring plays and more (in reverse chronological order):

Fourth quarter notes

DAL 10th possession: Cowboys in victory formation. Game over.

CHI 11th possession: Bears start at the CHI 20. Ends at CHI 20. Punt ball away.

DAL 9th possession: Cowboys take over at the DAL 16. With many of the starters now out (including Tony Pollard), Dallas drive goes only 1 yard. Brian Anger punts 83 yards to end zone.

CHI 10th possession: Bears put together an 11-play drive, but it’s halted on the DAL 18 when they go for it on fourth down and come up short.

DAL 8th possession: Starts at DAL 21. Tony Pollard scores his third touchdown of the game, a 54-yard run to extend the lead (with the extra point) to 49-29 with 10:35 left.

CHI 9th possession continues: 1st-and-20 at the DAL 40 as quarter begins. Four plays later, the Bears get into the end zone on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Justin Fields to Cole Kmet. Two-point conversion fails; Cowboys lead 42-29 with 13:40 left.

Third quarter notes

CHI 9th possession: Bears start at CHI 25 with 5:00 remaining in quarter, then use 9 plays to move to DAL 40 at the end of the quarter.

CHI 8th possession: On a wild play, Micah Parsons returns a fumble 36 yards for a touchdown. Justin Fields had the opportunity to touch Parsons on the ground after the recovery, but chose to jump over him instead of touching him when he was down. Parsons jumped up and ran into the end zone. Extra point and Cowboys lead 42-23.

DAL 7th possession: Cowboys use strong mix of passes and rushes, finishing with a Tony Pollard 7-yard touchdown run. Brett Maher’s extra point gives Cowboys a 35-23 lead with 6:51 left in quarter.

CHI 7th possession: Bears romp down field and score on Khalil Herbert’s 12-yard run. A two-point conversion attempt fails as Justin Fields is sacked. However, a Cowboys 21-point lead has been cut to five, 28-23. 9:42 left in the quarter.

DAL 6th possession: Starts at DAL 6. Cowboys go three-and-out. Punt back to Bears

CHI 6th possession: Starts at CHI 25. Quick three-and-out. Booming punt lands at DAL 6.

First-half key statistics

Dallas has a 278-141 edge in yardage. It would be bigger except the Bears have an edge in the time of possession, 16:28-13:32.

Prescott is 16 of 20 with 180 yards and 2 TDs and a INT, plus another 36 rushing yards and a TD.

Tony Pollard has seven carries for 51 yards and a TD.

Seven different Cowboys have caught passes. CeeDee Lamb had four catches for 65 yards and a TD; Michael Gallup has four catches for 49 yards.

Justin Fields has rushed six times for 42 yards and a TD and completed 8 of 11 passes for 46 yards and a TD.

Second quarter notes

CHI 5th possession: Taking over at the DAL 24 with 28 seconds left, Bears capitalize on the turnover with a 36-yard Carlos Santos field goal on the final play of the quarter.

DAL 5th possession: On first play, Dak Prescott is intercepted by Eddie Jackson who returns ball to the DAL 24.

CHI 4th possession: The Bears capitalize on a roughing-the-passer penalty that nullified a Cowboys interception. A play later, Justin Fields connects with N’Keal Harry for a 17-yard touchdown pass to pull Bears within 28-14 with 40 seconds left in the half.

DAL 4th possession: Another drive, another Cowboys drive. Dak Prescott passes 1 yard to Jake Ferguson for a touchdown. Another Maher extra point and the rout is on. 28-7 with 6:48 left in the half.

CHI 3rd possession: Doesn’t go anywhere. 3-and-out. Punt to Cowboys where Dallas will take over at DAL 46.

DAL 3rd possession: This may become a rout. Three possessions, three Cowboys touchdowns. This time the Cowboys go 75 yards on just 6 plays, the last an 18-yard touchdown run by Tony Pollard. Another extra point by Maher and the Cowboys lead 21-7 with 10:50 left in the quarter.

CHI 2nd possession: Begins at the DAL 10. Third-and-2. Three plays later, Justin Fields runs around left end for a 3-yard touchdown run. Extra point pulls Bears within 14-7 with 13:41 left in quarter.

First quarter notes

CHI 2nd possession: Quarterback Justin Fields has a couple of big runs, leading Bears to to DAL 10 as the clock expires on the first quarter.

DAL 2nd possession: Starts at DAL 31. Another quick scoring drive. With Tony Pollard on the sidelines, the Cowboys employed CeeDee Lamb in the backfield. The Cowboys march down the field on an 8-play, 69-yard drive, ending with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott to Lamb. Maher’s extra point gives Cowboys quick 14-0 lead with 5:19 left in the quarter.

CHI 1st possession: Partially halted by an offensive pass interference penalty, Bears drive goes nowhere. Punt to DAL 31. 8:38 left in the quarter.

DAL 1st possession: Cowboys march right down the field, scoring on an 11-play 75-yard drive. Capped by a 7-yard Dak Prescott touchdown run. Brett Maher’s extra point gives Cowboys a 7-0 lead with 10:18 left in the first quarter. Tony Pollard has an immediate impact, rushing four times for 26 yards and catching a pass for 16 yards. Prescott completes 4 of 5 passes for 39 yards on the opening-game drive.
