Game recap: IU basketball falls to No. 2 Kansas 75-71 at Assembly Hall on CBS

The Indiana men's basketball team faces one of its toughest tests this season in Kansas.

IU (7-2) is coming off a 104-76 defeat to Auburn. It won't get any easier today as the Jayhawks (9-1) are ranked second in the nation.

Final: Kansas 75, Indiana 71

With 13 seconds left, Mackenzie Mgbako missed a 3-pointer, but Kel'el Ware grabbed the rebound and converted a layup. Trey Galloway fouled out shortly after that to send Kevin McCullar Jr. to the line. McCullar made both. Gabe Cupps missed a 3-pointer. That'll do it.

IU made 42% of its shots from the floor (25-59) and was 6 of 16 from 3-point range (38%). Galloway led the way for IU with 28 points. Ware had 11 points and 15 rebounds.

:13.1 left 2H: Kansas holds a slim lead late in the game vs. Indiana

Hunter Dickinson's jumper gave Kansas a 69-64 lead. On the ensuing possession, Trey Galloway made a layup. Dajuan Harris Jr.'s basket made it 71-66. But IU didn't back down as Trey Galloway responded with a 3-pointer to make it 71-69 Kansas.

Kansas went to the free-throw line with about 18 seconds to go and Kevin McCullar Jr. made 2 of 2.

3:51 left 2H: Kansas takes the lead against Indiana

Kansas' Dajuan Harris Jr. made a 3-point basket with about 7 minutes left that cut IU's lead to 59-58. However, Gabe Cupps made a jumper in response to the Kansas 3. It was Cupps' first points of the game.

At the 4:53 mark, Hunter Dickinson's basket gave KU the lead. Malik Reneau responded with a jumper of his own, which gave IU a 63-62 advantage. Harris Jr. then hit a jumper at the 4:16 mark.

Kansas cut Indiana's lead to 58-53 with a 3-pointer before Hunter Dickinson's basket put the Jayhawks down 3.

Two Kel-el Ware free throws gave the Hoosiers a 10-point lead. Trey Galloway is up to 20 points.

IU isn't slowing down against No. 2 Kansas. Trey Galloway hit a 3 right before the break to extend the Hoosiers' lead.

A great first half from Indiana. The Hoosiers shot 54% from the floor (14-26) and 43% from 3 (3-7). Kansas shot 35% from the floor (12-34) and was 2-10 from 3-point range (20%).

Trey Galloway scored a couple of late buckets in the first half to lead the team with 13 points.
