Some quick hits from Miami Heat media day. We’ll keep adding more to the top, including the Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro media briefings scheduled between 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.:

11:40 a.m.: The Heat made a significant offer for point guard Jrue Holiday before Portland traded him to Boston, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said.

“The teams I really think were there in the end were the Celtics, Heat and the Clippers,” Windhorst said “Those were the three teams Jrue Holiday was really focused on at some point being able to sign a longer term contract for... Other teams made offers but it was sort of a three-team, aggressive race at the end.”

The Miami Herald reported last Thursday that the Heat was considering an offer for Holiday, Holiday had told the Blazers that the Heat, Celtics, Clippers, Lakers, 76ers and Chicago appealed to him.

11 a.m.: Tyler Herro said he took the trade rumors seriously but he has moved past them: “I’m in great mindset. I’m ready to roll.”

He admitted “this one felt a little more real.. I just want to play where I’m wanted.”

Reminded of Tua Tagovailoa’s comment during Deshaun Watson trade rumors, he was asked if he feels wanted by the Heat. “I don’t feel not wanted,” he said, echoing Tua.

Though Herro was on the active roster but did not play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, he said: “I don’t think I was 100 percent ready to come back until a month after the season ended.”

10:48 a.m.: Jimmy Butler arrived with a new hairdo (perm and straightened hair) and pierced lips.

Does Butler feel like Heat is wasting his prime and not adding enough around him?

“We straight,” Butler said. “I know what I’m capable of and what my guys are capable of. We’re going to end up in the Finals and this time we’ll win it.”

He said “it’s only about a championship” for him. “This is the year, this is the one.”

Butler said there’s “no chip on our shoulder.”

10:40 a.m.: Adebayo said he spoke with Damian Lillard during the trade process but said “obviously he had a different situation in mind.”

Does Adebayo believe the team is doubted?

“Biggest thing is keep proving them wrong and keep going out with the core we have and doing the things they think we can’t do.”

Adebayo was non-committal about being part of the Olympic team....

He said Josh Richardson will surprise people this season.

▪ 9:55.: Erik Spoelstra said Nikola Jovic has improved this summer but his role remains to be seen.... On Josh Richardson: “I think you’re going to see a very dynamic two way player.”

▪ 9:50 a.m.: Spoelstra said he understands that fans want change “every year..... Everybody has a little bit of impatience during the summer.”

But even without adding a top player, Spoelstra insists the Heat has a championship contender.

“Nobody can guarantee who is going to win at the end of June,” he said. “But we’re one of those teams [that can compete] for a title. A title is not won on a piece of paper. You want to come into camp knowing you have one of those teams that can compete for a championship, and we have one of those teams.”

He said: “We have to get better for sure. We have shared experienced and success. That usually leads to the most explosive type of learning you need.”

▪ 9:40 a.m. Spoelstra wants the Heat to take the regular season seriously: “We want to have everyone approach this the right way to have everyone prepare us for moments of truth in the playoffs.”

▪ 9:38 a.m.: Tyler Herro, who had been mentioned in Damian Lillard trade rumors before Lillard was deal to Milwaukee, is “ready. He’s used all this as fuel,” Spoelstra said.

▪ 9:35 a.m.: Spoelstra said he doesn’t want to use Tyler Herro as a point guard “on day one” but he will handle the ball a lot.

Asked whether he needs to speak to players linked to trade rumors, he said: “You have to learn how to compartmentalize. You have to find a comfort level within the chaos. It takes a discipline to be able to focus on the task at hand.”
