A list of Triangle restaurants open for Thanksgiving dining + takeout feasts

The year’s greatest eating holiday is upon us.

Thanksgiving is the ultimate food-centric celebration, a day where the spotlight shines on brined and roasted birds, with debates over stuffing versus dressing, and plates of a little of this and that until the food coma takes over.

Many will turn to restaurants this year to handle the feast, either to take the family for a nice meal out, or to pick up a ready-to-serve spread to eat at home.

The News & Observer has compiled a mile-long list of the local restaurants stepping up to make Thanksgiving meals this year. Following two slow pandemic years for dining rooms, more and more are offering in-person meals and buffets. But Thanksgiving takeout is here to stay in a big way, with most restaurants packing up whole feasts to go.

Acme Food & Beverage

The Acme Thanksgiving feast to-go serves two people and includes deep-fried turkey and sides such as rosemary and sage stuffing, collards and country ham, mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes. Meals can be picked up Wednesday, Nov. 23 and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. The cost is $85. Dessert, bread and additional sides are available as add-ons.

Alimentari at Mothers & Sons

This Italian market in downtown Durham is making sides and fixings to elevate the Thanksgiving table. Offerings include turkey gravy by the pint, stuffing, pork braised greens, mac and cheese, a charcuterie board, chicken liver mousse and more. The deadline to order is Nov. 19, with pickup available Nov. 22 and Nov. 23.

Asali Desserts & Cafe

Ashley Christensen’s restaurant group AC Restaurants is offering Thanksgiving sides and entrees, including herb bundles and compound butters, family style sides, pints of gravy and desserts. Angus Barn

The Capital Grille

Serving an in-person Thanksgiving meal for $47 per person, including turkey with brioche stuffing, green beans, cranberry-pear chutney, mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes with hot honey. Pumpkin Cheesecake is available as an add-on. Takeout Thanksgiving meals are also available, serving four people for $135, with pickup at on Wednesday, Nov. 23 or Thursday, Nov. 24.

Chef’s Palette Restaurant and Bar

Crossroads at The Carolina Inn

The Durham

Lucette Grace

The bakery is making special Thanksgiving desserts like sweet potato pie, chocolate hazelnut torte, towers of macarons, bourbon pecan pies and brunch packs. Pick up is Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no deadline to order, but online ordering will shut down when Lucette Grace feels like it has reached capacity, so don’t dally if your heart is set on a dessert.

Mandolin

Instead of a Thanksgiving Day meal, Mandolin is offering a restaurant-style Friendsgiving, served Nov. 20 and Nov. 21. The ticketed meal is $95, with a portion of profits going to feeding charity Now Serving. The menu will be mostly family style, with a skillet of cornbread, sides like roasted sweet potatoes, sunchoke gratin, a choice of heritage breed pork chops or whole roasted trout and dessert.

Margaux’s Restaurant
