Lisa Vanderpump's Advice For Katie Maloney & Ariana Madix As They Finally Open Their Sandwich Shop

Fans have been begging for the tea on Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix's sandwich shop for months. Despite a delayed opening, and even fan speculation that it was not real and just a reality television plotline, the Vanderpump Rules stars have finally opened the doors to Something About Her.

Now, the pair's longtime boss Lisa Vanderpump herself is weighing in on their business debut. While chatting with Delish about her role on Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars, the Sur owner revealed whether she's visited Maloney and Madix's sandwich shop yet—and her advice for Ariana and Katie.

"Well, I haven't really seen it lately because I've been away. I've been in Lake Tahoe, I've been in New York for a few days, I've been in Las Vegas for a few days. Everyone's seen me everywhere," says Vanderpump.

As for her advice for her former staff? "I think in business you have to adjust, you've got to adapt. I don't think anybody can really judge a new business in hospitality until it's been open at least a couple weeks because we don't even tell anybody when we're open. We're practicing on people and you need a bit of that."

"I think they've got to really just adapt," she continues. "If something's not selling, cut it, you need to let it go... If this is not working, pivot. I also think until it's settled down you need to be there 24/7. Work hard."

Ariana and Katie first announced the sandwich shop back in 2022, but after permit issues and other logistical delays, fans—and VPR cast members alike—wondered if Something About Her would ever open its doors. But Madix and Maloney never lost faith.

"We both believed that it would always happen, that we were going to make it happen," Madix told People Magazine. "But there was definitely some moments of deep breathing at times when something else would pop up, and you just have to take a second."

"I don't think it was ever a moment of this won't happen, but it was just kind of like, 'Okay, but how much longer are we talking?'" Maloney added. "'Are we talking weeks or months at this point?'"

However, she says "relinquishing control" helped her "trust the process more." Madix chimed in that it's been an "incredible learning experience."

The menu includes rom com-inspired sandwich names, ranging in price from $14 to $18, with nods to famous leading ladies Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, and Cameron Diaz.

"I feel like we were tasting things and we were just like, 'This feels right for this," Ariana explained of the naming process. "Yeah, this tastes like a Drew, or this definitely tastes like a Reese," Katie said.
