Lisa Vanderpump Has 'Empathy' for Kyle Richards' Separation

Lisa Vanderpump

While at BravoCon, Lisa Vanderpump spoke with Parade about her ex-friend, Kyle Richards, amid Richards' separation from Mauricio Umansky. And her comments might surprise Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans.

When asked if she was surprised about the cheating rumors surrounding Richards and Unmansky, Vanderpump expressed she was hesitant to buy into the speculation.

"I never believe anything I read because, you know, anything that starts with, 'I heard' when you're a restauranteur, you always hear that. Like, every night I heard that." Vanderpump told Parade. "But you know, whatever floats her boat."

At the same time, the reality star said she also felt for Richards. "I mean, I don't know. I just have empathy for the fact that being married a long time, sometimes there are problems along the way," Vanderpump said. "I've seen it with many of our friends. And sometimes, I want to strangle my very own husband. Many times."

Sources confirmed in July that Richards and Unmansky "have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof," People reported. According to the source, "they remain amicable as they figure out what's next for them and their family.

Richards and Umansky issued a joint statement refuting the report that they were planning to divorce.

"Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue," they wrote at the time. "However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage."

The couple added: "But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone's part."

While at BravoCon Vanderpump shared her thoughts with Parade about Tom Sandoval's cheating scandal with Raquel Leviss.

"Tom, I hope he learns from his mistakes. That's what I wish for all of these young people in Vanderpump Rules," she said. "I think life is a learning curve, and I think when you look at mistakes, this is a huge reflection, being on a reality show. Look at it, and learn from it."
