Lingerie shop will cater to women ‘if it’s just a Monday and they want to feel sexy’

Photographer Kayleigh Vestring already owns one business, but it’s inspiring her to start a second one as well.

While shooting intimate photographs for her BoudoirbyKayleigh, Vestring said she realized there’s a need in Wichita for more lingerie options.

“So many of my clients are like, we can’t find anything,” she said.

That’s why she’s opening Hush Intimates, a lingerie boutique, on Feb. 4.

The store will be at 511 E. Douglas, which is between Emporia and St. Francis where Urban Routine Wellness used to be.

Vestring said Hush will be an alternative to chain stores and carry sizes small to 4X “so everybody can be included and feel sexy.”

“I’m all about women empowerment (and) body positivity.”

Vestring said her photos are about “embracing your body and feeling sexy and comfortable in your skin.”

“It’s a whole confidence booster.”

She wants Hush to do the same.

“Since I do boudoir every day, I hear about women every day,” Vestring said.

“Everybody at any age wants to feel sexy.”

Vestring had been a manager for a retail store before starting her photography business in 2019.

Hush will carry lingerie, lounge wear, pajamas, slippers and candles.

Kayleigh Vestring’s BoudoirbyKayleigh photography business has inspired her to also start Hush Intimates, a downtown lingerie shop.
Kayleigh Vestring’s BoudoirbyKayleigh photography business has inspired her to also start Hush Intimates, a downtown lingerie shop.

Also at the space, others are opening a salon and aesthetics, teeth whitening and lash businesses.

“I feel like the foot traffic will just be amazing downtown,” Vestring said.

But is there enough demand for lingerie to have a whole business devoted to it downtown?

No question, Vestring said. She said women like to buy new lingerie for anniversaries, date night surprises “or if it’s just a Monday and they want to feel sexy.”

Vestring will continue to do photography and work at the store, where she said she can do some editing on the side. However, she does hope to hire someone to help run the shop because she’s also getting married next month and has two children under the age of 3.

She acknowledges that two businesses plus everything else is a lot, but she said she “wouldn’t have it any other way.”

“That’s how my brain works.”
