Vicky McClure is best known for playing DI Kate Fleming - but Line of Duty fans might be surprised to find out she once worked with Madonna.

In her early career, the actor starred as Juliette in Filth and Wisdom, the 2008 film that served as the directorial debut for the pop star.

The film, which also starred Richard E Grant and Stephen Graham, focused on a man who tries to fund his dreams of becoming a rock star by working as a cross-dressing dominatrix.

However, despite its star-studded cast and crew, it received a limited release and was not well received by critics.

Reflecting on her time working on the film, Vicky - who still had a 'day job' at the time - said working alongside the pop great didn't feel "normal".

"Working with Madonna never once felt normal," she told The Guardian. "I was still in my office job at the time. No agent, unsteady career.

"Then she cast me in her film. We flew around the world together. I experienced incredible moments, then went back to work the next morning."

Madonna has since directed the 2011 film WE, which starred Oscar Isaac, David Harbour and Natalie Dormer and released to mixed reviews. She was also planning to direct a biopic based on her own life, but after working on the script with Diablo Cody and casting her lead actress, the project was canned (for now, at least).

Line of Duty, meanwhile, aired its final episode in 2021 and, although there's been no confirmation of any further episodes, it seems like the cast would be up for a reunion.

Inspector Steve Arnott actor Martin Compston recently said: "We had a long talk about it and we all said that we'd be up for doing one more. One last one.

"So that's where we're at. That talk was in April and from then nothing's changed. All we've said is that we'd be up for doing one more at some point but none of us have signed on."

Line of Duty is streaming on BBC iPlayer, and DVD and Blu-ray boxsets are also available to buy now.
