Lindsey Vonn, Jack Nicklaus and others send best wishes to Tiger Woods after car crash

Celebrities from around the world sent their thoughts and prayers to Tiger Woods after his scary Tuesday morning car crash in Los Angeles County.

“Praying for TW right now,” champion skier Lindsey Vonn, who is also Woods’ ex-girlfriend, said Tuesday afternoon.

“Barbara and I just heard about Tiger’s accident, and like everyone else, we are deeply concerned,” Jack Nicklaus tweeted about himself and his wife. “We want to offer him our heartfelt support and prayers at this difficult time. Please join us in wishing Tiger a successful surgery and all the best for a full recovery.”

“Sending my prayers to @TigerWoods and his family tonight—here’s to a speedy recovery for the GOAT of golf,” Barack Obama said. “If we’ve learned anything over the years, it’s to never count Tiger out.”

Woods, 45, suffered serious injuries to both legs in the single-vehicle crash, but the injuries are not life-threatening, officials said Tuesday afternoon. No one else was in the car.

“We are all pulling for you, Tiger,” longtime friend and rival Phil Mickelson said. “We are so sorry that you and your family are going through this tough time. Everyone hopes and prays for your full and speedy recovery.”

“Heal up quickly @TigerWoods!” Steph Curry wrote. “Praying for you and your family. God is in control always. Stay strong.”

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the crash in Rancho Palos Verdes around 7 a.m. local time, prying Woods from the heavily damaged vehicle and rushing him to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

“I’m sick to my stomach,” fellow golfer Justin Thomas said during a press conference. “It hurts to see one of my closest friends get in an accident. I just hope he’s all right. Just worried for his kids.”

“Tiger Woods is part of the Augusta National family, and the news of his accident is upsetting to all of us,” Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley said. “We pray for him, for his full recovery and for his family during this difficult time.”

Woods last appeared on the PGA Tour in December 2020, competing alongside his son Charlie. He underwent a fifth back surgery earlier this year, and his participation in the 2021 Masters was still up in the air prior to the crash.

“Fight @tigerwoods like the champion you are for your kids and the world,” Mike Tyson wrote. “Love and prayers.”

“Everyone send your prayers out to Tiger Woods!” Magic Johnson said. “Let us all pray for his speedy recovery.”

Woods’ well-wishers came from beyond the sports world, too, with Jada Pinkett Smith and Condoleeza Rice among those offering support.

The crash occurred a day after Woods played the Rolling Hills Country Club with retired NBA star Dwyane Wade, who shared photos from the outing to Instagram on Tuesday.

“Prayers up for the GOAT @TigerWoods who was in an accident this morning,” Pinkett Smith wrote. “Was just with him yesterday. Don’t take not even a MOMENT for granted! I know you’re good because your Tiger within is a beast!!!”

“Praying for @TigerWoods hope recovery is quick and you are back to full health!” said Kevin Jonas.

Of course, Woods also received an outpouring of support from fellow professional golfers.

“On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers,” PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement.

“Pull through @TigerWoods,” Tony Finau wrote. “Thoughts and prayers for your full recovery and with your family and team. Heavy heart.”

Tiger Woods was my idol growing up and I’ve been so fortunate to have been teammates and friends with him,” Patrick Reed said. “Right now all of my thoughts are with him and his family for a speedy recovery.”
