Lindsay Arnold is trying her best to look on the bright side after her 3-year-old daughter Sage accidentally flooded a couple of levels of their family home.

On Thursday, May 9, the Dancing with the Stars alum, 30, posted a nearly four-minute TikTok explaining how her child caused their major and ongoing renovations.

“In case you’re having a bad day, let me tell you how our house just flooded,” Arnold said at the start of the clip. “Buckle up — pretty unfortunate events here.”

The dancing pro shares daughters Sage and June, 11 months, with her husband Samuel Lightner Cusick.

Before getting into the details, she prefaced her story by stating that she’s aware things could have been “totally worse” and that other “people are going through way worse things than this.”

According to Arnold, the family had gone out for a birthday dinner for her mom and when they returned home “our entire kitchen, main floor area was flooded” with inches of water. Cusick quickly went to check the basement, and due to him yelling “a nice big swear word,” Arnold could tell the situation was serious.

She said that before the family left for dinner that evening, all of the water had been shut off in their neighborhood for maintenance.

While Arnold and Cusick didn’t see the incident occur, they assumed from the aftermath that Sage had attempted to use a faucet, but when no water came out, the toddler didn’t bother to turn it off.

Arnold added that the maintenance ended shortly after their family left the home for the dinner, and that’s when the faucet must have also started working — “for almost three-and-a-half hours.”

The former DWTS contestant said the water went “right on to our countertop, all throughout our kitchen, and then obviously into our basement.”

In an April 23 TikTok, Arnold gave a tour of the home in which she shared that the basement had been renovated the month prior.

“So far this is the damage — All the floors on the main level need to be replaced. And also looking like all of our cabinets need to be replaced as well, as well as our kitchen island,” she said.

Arnold explained, “Now when they do that, they have to pull out the cabinets, which they might be able to salvage some of the cabinetry, but nine times out of 10, it means that your countertops are gonna break because it’s really hard to remove like, a full, marble countertop without it cracking.”

In addition to the family’s kitchen repairs, “down in the basement, they’ve torn out the entire ceiling,” drywall included.

Some of the flooring will need to be replaced in the basement as well.

“This is so unfortunate, and like I said, this could be so much worse. I’m trying really like, to remain positive,” Arnold said.
