Madelyn Anderle has captured many of life's special moments on camera. So when the Dallas-based photographer met her now-husband Nic in person for the first time in June 2022 after connecting through Instagram DMs, she felt an irresistible urge to film their first weekend together.
As their relationship developed long-distance — Nic was based in Charlotte, North Carolina — Madelyn continued to document special moments on camera. And when the couple got engaged, Madelyn, who works as a wedding photographer, knew she wanted their wedding day to be particularly memorable.
After discussing ideas with her mom, she came up with a special plan: She would create a video for the reception featuring all the footage they had collected throughout their relationship, which they would play during their grand entrance.
"Obviously, I knew we couldn't include all the videos, but we honestly love having everything to look back on," Madelyn tells PEOPLE exclusively. "We have a whole vlog from the first weekend we spent together that we'll revisit time and again."

On May 26, after the couple said "I do" and wrapped up their sunset photo shoot, they found themselves in the foyer of their wedding at Omni PGA Frisco Resort in Texas, waiting to make their grand entrance.
The glass double doors to the reception allowed them to watch as the video began playing for their guests. It was an incredible moment to see everyone laughing, crying, and experiencing different parts of their relationship that they hadn’t seen before, the bride says. Even their wedding coordinator, who had been working with them for almost a year and knew them well, was moved to tears as she prepared to open the doors.
"It really was a tear-jerker, but it also showcased our personality and laughs," Madelyn says. "It gave everyone goosebumps. We were just amazed to see all the people who care about us and support us. It was a very special moment to see it all come together."
Madelyn didn’t tell many people about the video, except for a few of her bridesmaids and Nic's mom. While Nic knew about the video, he didn’t see it until the day of the wedding.
"He was so giddy," Madelyn recalls. "He was smiling ear to ear and tearing up a bit. It’s an emotional day in general, and there were lots of tears before that. But seeing him react to something I made was really special. It might not have been a fancy videography moment, but I was so glad I did it. It tied a bow on our dating and engagement relationship, and now we’re starting our married life together, which is super exciting too."
After the wedding, Madelyn decided to post a video of the special moment on TikTok. Since then, it has garnered more than 2.4 million views and 2,300 comments. Reading through the comments, the newlywed saw many people expressing excitement, with some saying, "This gives me hope."
"I was once that girl who hoped to find 'the one' one day," Madelyn shares. "Seeing the positive reactions really inspired and encouraged me to appreciate our relationship even more and to share our story with other women or younger girls who might feel like they’ll never find their person."
"Everyone’s dating experience is different — some people know right away, while others take more time," she continues. "But I truly believe that when you find your person, you'll know. It was really encouraging to read all the positive comments and see how our story resonated with others."
Although their wedding is now in the past, Madelyn says this is just the beginning of their journey documenting their lives together. They plan to capture many aspects of their married life — moving in together, trips and everyday moments. "If we're having a cute moment, I'll say, 'Wait, let me get my camera,' " says Madelyn. "We definitely want to remember these times."
"We were on our way to the gym one Saturday morning, and I pulled out my camera. I had seen people film messages to their future kids, saying things like, 'Hey, it’s Mom and Dad.' So, we joked around and filmed a little video about going to the gym and how excited we are to be parents someday," she adds. "We were just giggling and having fun, but it felt really special."
