Wildlife Park Gives Polar Bears a New Toy and the Cutest Chaos Ensues

Located in Winkhill, United Kingdom, Peak Wildlife Park is home to various animals, including two adorable polar bears, Nanook and Noori. At the beginning of August, a zookeeper devised a creative way to repurpose some offcuts (it looks like bamboo) from the red panda enclosure to create a new toy for the polar bears. To say it was a hit would be an understatement!

The zookeeper took the stump and smeared peanut butter all over it before chucking it over the fence to the polar bears. Watch on as the two play with their new toy. They toss it into the water and chase after it! They throw it and dive for it! You can tell that the new toy was a big hit!

I could watch these two play with their new toy all day! I wonder if they made two of the toys so that each could have their own. Fans of Peak Wildlife Park enjoyed the cute video, too. @adriann_p cracked me up when they pointed out, "So it's basically a Kong, but for polar bears LOL!" @danielagio13 shared, "I love how playful these guys are!" and another commenter added, "It’s so fun watching them play!" I thought so too, I had a smile on my face by the end!

More About Peak's Polar Bears

Peak shared more of Nanook and Noori's story on their website, "Peak Wildlife Park is home to two amazing polar bears Nanook and Noori. The two cubs joined us from Orsa Predator Park back in August of 2023. This relocation came as a result of the closure of their old home and the need to find a suitable rehoming solution for these incredible animals. The cubs, Nanook and Noori, were born at Orsa in November 2021."

Peak shared more information about the polar bears' living conditions, including they have over 5 acres of space "complete with deep ponds, rugged terrain, and space for the bears to roam and engage in a range of natural behaviors," They go on to say, "We’ve worked hard to ensure that the bears’ new home is compatible with their former enclosure at Orsa, hopefully ensuring as seamless a transition for the bears as possible."

Nanook and Noori love to play, and spend a lot of time doing it, much like other polar bears do. In fact, Peak recently created another DIY toy for the two, a huge raft that they can't get enough of! Polar Bears International explains that polar bears use vocalizations and body language to let others know they're ready to have some fun; one sign that they use often is wagging their heads from side to side almost like they're saying, "Come on! Let's go play!" I could watch them play all day!
