Why Blackpink’s Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo Skipped the 2024 Met Gala

Unfortunately, we didn’t get a full Blackpink appearance at the Met Gala this year. While Jennie attended in a bright blue Alaïa look, her fellow members Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo were missing in action. This would have marked Lisa and Jisoo’s first time attending the event.

Rosé made her Met debut in 2021. She sparked rumors that she would return to the Met last week when she attended a Tiffany & Co. launch on Thursday. Lisa, on the other hand, was last spotted in Miami, where she attended the Formula 1 Grand Prix over the weekend. And Jisoo was recently seen on the set of her new film, Influenza, in Daejeon, South Korea.

Jennie made her Met Gala debut in 2023, wearing a vintage Chanel minidress at the time. All four members of Blackpink have never attended the event together, although Jisoo is an ambassador for Dior, while Lisa is the face of Celine, making it a future possibility. Until then, fans will have to wait.

In July 2023, Lisa spoke to W Korea about her relationship with Celine—and how wearing clothing from the fashion house makes her feel like a model on a runway. “I always become a ‘cool kid’ with Celine,” she said. “Even a pair of jeans and T-shirt carry tremendous power, and it infuses more confidence in you. Above all, Celine makes you become who you really are.”

Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello, on the other hand, told ELLE about working with Rosé: “Rosé is trustworthy and meaningful on various subjects, beyond her image. She is always giving people something different and unexpected, because she goes her own way, fully in control of her never-obvious choices.”
