Vogue Magazine is celebrating the dog days of summer with their first ever electronic Dogue issue and one of the famous dogs spot-lighted is Kamala Harris' VP pick Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's rescue dog Scout.

The governor, former congressman and army veteran took to Instagram to celebrate Scout's cover model debut.

Walz captioned the cute photo of Scout enjoying a vanilla soft serve ice cream cone with, "Thanks @voguemagazine for making our dog Scout a cover model. Let’s hope this fame doesn’t go to his head."

Walz is correct to be concerned about Scout being chuffed about his fame because he certainly is a fan favorite in the comments. One person said, "He is absolutely handsome and deserves a seat in the White House!" Another added, "As a single doggy daddy I approve this message!" Someone else responded, "Campaigns usually take themselves too seriously, but let’s be honest: Dogue covers are essential steps in protecting democracy."

I think we can all agree with that no matter what side of the political spectrum we are on, adorable animals absolutely have their place in politics.

The Walz Family Adopted Scout in 2017

The Dogue issue of Vogue explains how Scout came into the lives of the Walz family. "Before Scout was the First Dog of Minnesota, he was Gene, an abandoned rescue. At 11 weeks old, someone left him and his nine littermates on the side of a rural road in Oklahoma. Many had crawled down and gotten stuck in a ravine right before a rainstorm. A woman named Kathy discovered them. With the help of her son, she coaxed them all out before the area flooded. They knew if they didn’t get them all out now, they never would."

Midwest Animal Rescue and Services posted the adoption listing for Gene online. Within several days, MARS had an application from the Walz family. They rechristened him as Scout. “I’m proud that Minnesota’s First Dog is a rescue dog, and I hope Scout—who has been a very good boy—serves as a reminder for Minnesotans that there are a lot of pups waiting to be adopted,” the governor said at the time.

The article goes on to list some of this adorable rescue dog's attributes, like the fact he loves to play frisbee. When the publication asked Walz one thing he wishes his dog knew. it's "That he rescued us as much as we rescued him."
