In my rich fantasy life, I'm the kind of woman who swaps out her handbag to complete every outfit and artfully curates her jewelry selections each day with intention. In reality, I sling everything I own into my woefully over-stuffed Cuyana System Tote for weeks at a time and basically live in my go-to set of necklaces and rings; work outs, showers, the whole nine yards. While I love the mystique of thoughtfully crafting my looks, in truth, I'm much of a no-muss, no-fuss kind of gal.

As a consequence, the pieces that make the cut for my collection need to be real work horses. That means timeless, go-with-anything styles that will elevate any outfit without looking out of place, as well as sturdy yet comfortable fabrications that can stand up to everything life (i.e. me) throws at them. Enter: the Maison Miru Nap Earrings.

If your social media algorithm is anything like mine, you may have already seen these flat-backed styles around, but for the uninitiated, they appear, from the front, to be classic studs, but rather than the usual post-and-clasp configuration, the backs of them are completely flat. This feature means that there's no prong sticking out that might dig into the space behind your ear, say, while trying to catch a few zzzs on a long flight, or during your sporty exploits. In fact, they're almost the reversal of a traditional stud—instead of having a long post attached to the stud, the flat back piece is comprised of a longer, slim tube (they'll fit through any standard-size piercing hole) while the gemstone front has just an eensy-weensy crooked pin to help it lock into place inside the tube.

Putting them on was initially intimidating, but the process if actually much more straight-forward than first glance might suggest. Rather than inserting the stud, then attaching the backing as you would with a traditional earring, with the flat-backs, you insert the backing first, then simply cap it with the front of the stud. The slightly bent interior post of the stud locks it into place in the backing, so it sits snugly, no matter how active you get. To remove, simply pull the jewel front.

While I wear the brand's recently-launched birthstone studs, though the Nap Earring flat-back style comes in a whole slew of different looks to fit any taste (they even come in curated sets for those with multiple piercings.) And when I say "I wear," I mean "I have worn continuously for three weeks." In that time, I've snorkeled in the sea, lounged by the pool, played pickleball, hiked, and taken multiple plane journeys, all without feeling impeded by my jewelry. In fact, while I've taken them off a few times to swap out a dramatic statement earring for nights out, I keep returning to them over and over for an easy yet elegant everyday wear.

In short, these earrings allow me to live my easy-breezy lazy girl lifestyle while still looking like the kind of woman who makes thoughtful sartorial selections. That's what I call a win-win... and time to invest in a few more pairs.
