I spent a ton of time at the beach growing up, so globs of sunscreen and, unfortunately, sunburns are nothing new to me. I have super fair skin, so if I’m not religious about reapplying sunscreen, sticking to the shade and wearing a cover-up, I can burn very easily.

Everyone knows that sunburns are nothing to mess with because they are 1) very painful and 2) damaging to your skin. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “[having] five or more sunburns more than doubles your risk of developing potentially deadly melanoma.” Scary stuff!

Now, as an adult, I’ve mastered a safe sun care routine, but everyone’s human. So since I’ve had my share of slip-ups, I know which drugstore products are the best to grab when you’re dealing with a sunburn. While the best defense against a burn is obviously to use a good sunscreen (Coppertone Sport is the ultimate, IMO), there are a few products that can help soothe a sunburn.

Keep scrolling to shop three after-sun products I swear by that you can snag at most drugstores (including Walmart).

1. Banana Boat Burn Relief Soothing Aloe after Sun Gel, $8.50

Aloe gel is the classic sunburn reliever for a reason. Not only can it help to decrease inflammation, but it feels cool upon application and moisturizes your skin, which can prevent peeling. This gel dries quickly on the skin and is very slick, but my best advice is to put your bottle of aloe in the fridge before you use it to get it nice and cold.

2. Solarcaine Cool Aloe Burn Relief with Aloe Vera, $6.94 (Orig. $7.79)

Solarcaine can also help with any itching and has aloe vera in its formula to hydrate and calm angry skin.
