Sources Claim the Royal Family's Trip to Balmoral Is Kinda Unusual This Year...
The royals have gathered in Balmoral for their fancy summer vacation, but apparently things are kinda different this year. The Daily Beast reports that King Charles decided not to stay at Balmoral Castle itself, and instead he and Queen Camilla are sleeping at their own private home Birkhall (a..."Scottish baronial-style manor").
Per a source, "The king is sleeping a lot. He is not one to sit around doing nothing, so relaxing for him takes the form of reading, writing, painting, and gardening. He has always loved throwing on his wellies and getting out in the garden, that’s his happy place."
The insider adds that His Majesty hasn't been participating in all-day family activities like shooting and fishing, which is a change from the usual.
King Charles is still undergoing cancer treatment, and apparently Queen Camilla in particular is keen for him to slow down and take it easy. Earlier this month, a source told the Daily Beast that Charles is "still unwell," despite it "being fantastically well managed to give the impression that everything is fine."
That said, the King is keeping a busy royal schedule, and is even planning an overseas royal tour to Australia and Samoa in October. A source says, "He is the king and everyone understands he wants to get on and do the job. His bravery and courage in the face of what he is facing is amazing. But plenty of people would prefer it if he wasn’t going."
